Angela Hoover, Lead Receptionist

As the lead receptionist, Angela is often the first staff member many of our clients meet. She was born and raised here in Southern California and began working in animal care two years ago as a way to integrate her love for animals with her desire to make a meaningful contribution to improving pet health. Angela is owned by two cats - a male bengal/tabby mix named Smokey and a female bengal named Honey, which adopted her one day when she walked into a pet rescue. Okay, it might be the other way around.

A little known fact about Angela: she is our resident expert in pet poetry.

Aubrey McLaughlin, Veterinary Assistant in Training

Aubrey was born in Santa Ana and grew up in the New Orleans, Lousiana area before returning to SoCal to pursue a career in animal care.

Aubrey is currently attending veterinary training at the Professional Veterinary Assistant School for Veterinary Nursing and shares her life with Ripley, a lovable, deliriously happy, high energy chocolate lab, and her awesome cat Buster.

Sam Kane, Technical Assistant

Sam Kane

Sam was born in Huntington Beach and grew up in Southern California. He had cats and dogs throughout his life and has felt a special affinity for them for as long as he can remember.

He lives with Chloe, a 67lb Akita mix, and four rescue cats, Simba, Rex, Ama and Bastian. When not working, he's a voracious reader of all genres and an avid backpacker - both locally and in the High Sierras. His favorite diversion is visiting the Bark Parks in Irvine and Costa Mesa.

Sam graduated from Woodbridge High School in Irvine and attended Irvine Valley College. He's been working with animals professionally for over five years.

Elizabeth Mendoza, Receptionist & Technical Assistant

Elizabeth Mendoza

One of the benefits of working at Mesa West Pet Hospital is the opportunity to learn and contribute in multiple areas. So it's no surprise that Elizabeth is both a technical assistant and a receptionist here at MWPH.

She loves working with small animals, as witnessed by the fact that she shares her life with "Blacky", a female Terrier mix, and her exotic bird "Brownie". Oh, and she has two horses and is threatening to ride to work.

Elizabeth is a native Southern Californian, speaks fluent Spanish and English, and has worked in small animal health care for two years.

Brittney Lenna, Veterinary Technician

If you ask her, Brittney will tell you she feels really blessed to be working in a veterinary hospital - something she dreamed of doing as a child. In fact, she was bearly a young woman when, armed with a work permit, she became a dog and cat bather. Ten years later, she's a committed Vet Tech who enjoys working at Mesa West Pet Hospital because, as she says, the staff at the hospital share the same core beliefs and compassion for the pets that she does.

Nikki Lawrence

One of Nikki's favorite pet poems is My Forever Pet, by Suzanne Taylor:

There's something missing in my home,I feel it day and night,
I know it will take time and strength before things feel quite right.
But just for now, I need to mourn, My heart -- it needs to mend.
Though some may say, "It's just a pet,"I know I've lost a friend.
You've brought such laughter to my home, and richness to my days.
A constant friend through joy or loss with gentle, loving ways.
Companion, friend, and confidante, A friend I won't forget.
You'll live forever in my heart, My sweet, forever pet.
